Peckish Pig is actually Evanston’s first brewpub! All their beer is brewed themselves on the property with their seven barrel fermenters. Their three and a half barrel brew house is open for tours, so book yours today before making your way down. Every few weeks, the ten taps are rotated to keep their brew selection fresh. Choose between a half pint, pint, or even a sixty-four ounce growler. Can’t pick one? Order up a flight and try a few with a friend or two. You can always peek at their drinks page to see what beers are currently on tap. Check out their events page and slide down for an interesting Wednesday night. Learn about the people that make Peckish Pig practically perfect prior to raising a glass. Cheers!

Mark 2 Lounge Website

For more than fifty five years, the Mark II Lounge has been family owned and operated. Opening their doors in 1958, the bar was originally open until four in the morning! For generations, locals and tourists alike came out to, “this traditional watering hole.” Make your way in and shoot a game of pool on one of “three diamond pool tables” or see who has the best aim with “three steel tip dart boards.” If that’s not your style, you can try your luck at foosball or put your strategies to the test over a mannerly game of chess. Stroll down to the West Rogers Park neighborhood, “just two blocks from Evanston,” and see why Maxim Magazine voted Mark II Lounge, “one of the best bars of Chicago.”

Fri 3pm-2am

If you need to fill the hole in the wall void in your life, Monsen’s Tally-Ho is here for you. Don’t expect to find any luxuries or extravagant art on the walls, just a pool table already claimed and cheap drinks that’ll make your bar stool a sofa. They do, however, have a DJ spinning records with a crowd-pleasing playlist. While there may not be too much in the ways of entertainment, the regulars offer a warm welcome to all newcomers. If you want a calm spot with quality conversation, you’ll most likely find owners, Pete and his wife, tending the bar, and you better mind your p’s and q’s around Pete’s wife.  Stop by on a Wednesday for karaoke night or make this the spot you end your Friday or Saturday outing at. As a cash-only bar, they will not open a tab for you, so be sure to come correct with some paper in your pocket.

Trying to find a place to have some sips by the shoreline? Sail down to the Lighthouse Tavern, just half a block from Lake Michigan and Jarvis Beach. Tucked in a cozy, quiet neighborhood, you’ll need to bring your cash to pour one back at this Rogers Park dive. Don’t worry if you only have a card, as there is an ATM inside the bar. It may not have changed much over thirty years, but the staff is kind and the drinks are cheap. With a solid liquor and beer selection and no snobbish attitudes, Lighthouse Tavern will quickly become one of your favorite spots. While parking can sometimes take a minute to find, it would be recommended to walk or bike here if possible. It’s a smaller spot, but that just means an increased opportunity to meet new people. Raise a glass, throw some darts, and even enjoy live music every once in a while with like-minded folks!
